Leicester's unshakeable team spirit was at the heart of their bonus-point triumph at Treviso at Saturday, according to fullback Matthew Tait.
Leicester left the Stadio di Monigo with everything they were looking for as their four tries saw them close the gap on Pool Five leaders Ulster to just two points ahead of next Sunday's titanic battle with the Irish outfit at Welford Road.
But the 34-19 scoreline didn't reflect how hard the former European Cup winners had to work to make it four straight pool wins, with Treviso leading 13-8 at the break and Leicester not regaining the advantage until there was little over a quarter of an hour left on the clock.
"We got what we set out to achieve from the game and that was maximum points. At half-time we were in a bit of a hole but it's a mark of this team that we've been in that position a few times this year and we've managed to dig ourselves out of it," said Tait, a week after the Tigers came back from 10 points down to draw with Bath.
"That's testament to the group. We've got some really experienced guys in there and players who put us in the right parts of the field, certainly in the second half.
"If we had been on our game from the start we wouldn't have been in that position, though. By our own standards, the first half wasn't really good enough. The last 30 minutes were a better reflection of how we wanted to play.
"A lot of teams get caught out coming down here – it's a difficult place to play. We knew that Treviso are a very physical team and they would make it difficult but we need to have a look at ourselves because our standards will have to be a lot higher against Ulster."
