Tiny Toulon role for Habana

Springbok wing Bryan Habana was used sparingly by Toulon in their Top 14 match against Grenoble at the Stade des Alpes on Saturday.

Habana, one of five Springboks released to their overseas clubs for the weekend, was given just 10 minutes off the bench and therefore struggled to make an impact in his Top 14 debut.

The record-setting Springbok wing’s brief appearance culminated in a 26-28 loss after Jonny Wilkinson failed to convert Matt Giteau's late try.

Meanwhile, Morné Steyn’s club Stade Francais beat Biarritz 38-3 and Juandré Kruger’s side Racing Metro defeated Oyonnax 22-9, while Gurthrö Steenkamp and Jano Vermaak’s team Toulouse suffered a 19-38 loss to Clermont.

All five players will rejoin the Springbok team ahead of the Rugby Championship Test against Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.

Racing Metro 22-9 Oyonnax

Montpellier 33-24 Brive
