Top 20 - 28 May

The top holds firm but there is some wobbling down below and so some changes.

One must bear in mind that the difference between one and 20 is not all that big. All the teams in the Top 20 are top teams.

Eventually consistency is what separates teams, that and playing stronger opposition.

We have, as in the past, tried to reward teams that are playing without thinking that a team dropped is being punished.  A team may have gone down when it has not played just to make room for one that has played well. That is why Pretoria Boys High, Noord-Kaap and Paul Roos appear to be dropping down even though they have done nothing wrong.

Grey PE certainly did something right in beating St Andrew's. Others in the Eastern Cape who did things right are Framesby, who had their first victory over the Top 20 side this season, and Marlow.

Grey have been having a strange season – beating Westville, Paul Roos and St Andrew's and losing to Maritzburg College and Wynberg.

Those moving up are the Rooi Bulle of HTS Middelburg, Westville, Glenwood, Marlow and Grey PE.

The weekend past had three exceptional matches – Grey College vs Paarl Boys' High, Maritzburg College vs Glenwood and Affies vs Waterkloof. South Africa's schoolboys can certainly play brilliant rugby that involves all 15 players in a team.
