Player Ratings: Late to the partySHARE
Michael Cheika's side were outplayed in the opening 40 minutes, which effectively handed the All Blacks victory by half-time. However, there was a lot more fight from the Australians in the second half.
Warren Fortune rates the Australian players!
15 Israel Folau:
You can't fault this guy's commitment to the Wallaby Jersey. He made more running metres than any other player on the field and he scored a try as well.
14 Henry Speight:
Although he had a few good runs on attack, but he missed a lot of tackles out wide, which proved costly.
13 Samu Kerevi:
He was one of the problems in his side's poor defending in the first half. He looked out of sorts while he was on the field.
12 Kurtley Beale:
he brought a lot of energy to the Wallabies attack, especially in the second half. However, he also conceded a lot of turnover ball.
11 Curtis Rona:
He scored a try on debut and that was that. He seriously needs to work on his defending at this level.
10 Bernard Foley:
He failed to stamp his authority on the game in the first half, which put his team on the backfoot for the rest of the game.
9 Will Genia:
He tried his best from the base of the ruck. However, his teammates did not give him many options to work with.
8 Sean McMahon:
He did little wrong on attack and on defence. He seemed to be a marked man when he had the ball.
7 Michael Hooper (captain):
He gave away too many penalties in the game – he definitely did not lead by example.
6 Ned Hanigan:
In a big game like this, his work rate was poor for his position.
5 Adam Coleman:
He carried a ball a few times and got his side over the advantage line.
4 Rory Arnold:
He was found wanting in the physical exchanges in this game. He seemed more intent on shifting the ball than using his big frame in the physical stuff.
3 Allan Alaalatoa:
He held his own in the scrums and had a few opportunities with the ball.
2 Stephen Moore:
He was nonexistent for most of the time he was on the field.
1 Scott Sio:
He scrummaged well and he was one of the shining lights for his side in open play.
16 Tatafu Polota-Nau (On for Moore, 40th min):
He definitely did a lot more work on the field than the bloke he replaced.
17 Tom Robertson (On for Sio, 61st min):
He could not replicate the intensity that Scott Sio showed in open play.
18 Sekope Kepu (On for Alaalatoa, 51st min):
He was lively with ball in hand and constantly looked for work.
19 Rob Simmons (On for Arnold, 50th min):
Another player who brought some energy to the Wallabies' game in the second half.
20 Lopeti Timani (On for McMahon, 64th min):
He had a few strong carries in the second half.
21 Nick Phipps (On for Genia, 50th min):
His distribution was good in the second half.
22 Reece Hodge (On for Rona, 68th min):
Not enough time to be rated.
23 Tevita Kuridrani (On for Kerevi, 40th min):
He gave his side another edge on attack in the second half and his defending was better than most.
