Border shut out Namibia
Border scored two late tries to put their game against Namibia beyond doubt as they got their Craven Week underway with a 38-20 win.
The Namibians countered after a poor kick from Border flyhalf Lungelo Gosa is snapped up by the Namibians and a good break down the touchline leads to a slick final inside ball and Justin Newman goes over for the try. The conversion from Chris Arries is successful and the Namibians lead 7-0 after eight minutes of the first-half.
A penalty kick at posts from Bolze hits the posts but it works out for the side from the Eastern Cape as they win it back and send it through a few phases and Robert Lyons goes over for the try. The conversion is over from Bolze and the game was locked up at 7-7 just short of 20 minutes into the match.
Bolze increased the Border lead shortly after the try with his first penalty and Border were up 10-7.
A yellow-card five minutes before the break for the Namibians gave Border a chance to get a score just before the break and they get that try as Somila Jho takes a great short pass and runs in the try untouched from halfway and Bolze converts and Border lead 17-7 at the break.
Border started the second-half like they ended the first with a try five minutes into the half as Harty finds himself in the midfield off an attacking line-out and he ran a great line and shrugged off a few Namibian defenders to score the try. Bolze converted and Border lead 24-7.
Arries claimed three points for his side as he knocked a penalty over and narrowed the gap slightly to 24-10 13 minutes into the second-half.
Namibia bring themselves back into the game after a great break from Arries who offloads to Justin Newman who goes over for his second try of the day. The conversion is good and Borders lead was cut down to 24-17.
Another Namibian penalty from Arries and that set up a tense finish as Border lead 24-17 with four minutes to play.
Border shut the game out with three minutes to go and the No.8 Justin Hollis went over for try in the corner. Bolze converted the score and Border were 31-20 up just short of full-time.
The game ended with another Border try as skipper and flyhalf, Lungelo Gosa stepped one and outstripped the last defender to score the try. Bolze converted from right in front and Border won the game 38-20.
Man of the match: There were a few stand-out performers like both flyhalves but the man of the match has to go to Border centre Somila Jho. The centre was always dangerous on attack and was scored a great try as he hit a beautiful angle off his centre partners shoulder.
