Captain's profile: Jaco Retief

Pietersburg captain Jaco Retief will need all of his experience when he leads his team out to face Ben Vorster in their FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.

The 1.81 metre, 87 kg inside centre has played for the first team at Pietersburg for four years, so he knows just what to expect from the opposition this weekend.

Pietersburg went down to Ben Vorster at home last year, so they will have their work cut out for them if they want to secure their first FNB Classic Clash victory over their rivals.

"It is always a hard game against Ben Vorster – they have a very strong team so we will have to be at our best," said Retief.

The hard-hitting centre knows the midfield battle will be key, and he is prepared to lead from the front as his team look to upset Ben Vorster on their home turf.

Retief believes that if his side is to stand any chance then the forward pack will have to take control up front.

"Our forwards are our strength so it will be up to them to dominate the scrums and line-outs if we want to win," he explained.

The big centre is playing his second PUK week this year, but his focus this weekend is on doing whatever it takes to get one over Ben Vorster.
