Graeme Taken by Surprise

Graeme got a bit of their own medicine this weekend.

After losing most of the games against Nico Malan and Queens, the 1st XV had put in remarkable performances to end the fixture on a high note.

Against Union High Schools of Graaff-Reinet this weekend, just the opposite seemed to happen. Graeme had won eight of the nine games played comfortably, before losing the 2nds and 1st XV contests.

The Graeme 1st XV came up against a very determined Union High side, and struggled to find any of the form or rhythm that had served them so well in recent weeks.

The game was a scrappy affair with many handling errors as it never seemed to gain any momentum. Union High kicked tactically well and put Graeme under pressure.

Graeme seemed to also get frustrated as the game went on.

Union High’s hunger to win told at the end of the day as they defended their line in the last few minutes to hold onto a fully deserved 13-12 win.
