Kearsney make KZN history

Three boys from Kearsney College – Daniel du Preez, Jean-Luc du Preez and Sandile Kubeka – returned to school this week after being awarded their SA Schools’ colours following the Four Nations Under-18 rugby series.

It is believed to be the first time in KwaZulu-Natal that a school has had three players receive their national rugby colours in the same season.

SA Schools played in the Four Nations series this month, when they faced the Under-18 teams from England, Wales and France. Kubeka and the Du Preez brothers all earned their caps in the first game against France.

Kubeka has played for Kearsney’s First XV for three seasons. He is in Matric and hopes to join the Sharks Academy next year, whilst studying for a BA Marketing.

Identical twin brothers Jean-Luc and Daniel du Preez, sons of former Springbok, Blue Bulls and Sharks star Robert du Preez, are currently in Grade 11.

SA Schools remained undefeated in the series, beating France in Wellington 17-7; Wales in George 24-16; and England in Bellville 36-29.
