Weston captain - Michael Bauer

Weston capain Michael Bauer will be looking to pull the strings on attack when his side host local rivals Treverton in their FNB Classic Clash on Wednesday.

The Weston playmaker describes himself as a running flyhalf in the mould of Jonny Wilkinson or Quade Cooper, and he has been given the chance to express himself on attack by his coach.

"I like to play running rugby and get the forwards on the front foot. I can kick if I need to but I don't really enjoy the kicking game and my coach has given me the liceence to play my own game," he revealed.

Bauer is one of seven Matrics in a fairly young Weston side, with only a handful of the players having featured in the big 64-13 away win against Terverton last year.

The Weston skipper said that despite their inexperience he backs his side to produce the goods against their rivals.

"We are not too overconfident, Terverton have got an experienced side with just four Grade 11s and a big forward pack but I have got faith in my team and back them all the way," he said.

Bauer will study at the Sharks academy next year as he chases his dream of playing professional rugby, but for now his focus is on doing his school proud, he has only ever lost to Treverton once and does not intend to add to that on Wednesday.

"This team means a lot to me and I will put my body on the line and do whatever it takes," he said.
