The title holders have strengthened their Currie Cup squad with three Springboks Sevens players – Dry, Specman and Afrika.

According to the Cheetahs'  official twitter account, the trio joined the franchise training session on Monday and will be at the club until the end of the Currie Cup season.

Specman recently got a taste of the Cheetahs' competition dynamic during the recent World Club 10s in Mauritius.

While Dry and Afrika hope that they soon get an opportunity in the Orange jumper.

"Very fortunate to get an opportunity to come to a franchise like this! Opportunity wise, I hope I get a good run in," Springbok Sevens flank Dry said.

"I have a lot of work to do first before I even look at the game time, but for me, I’m just happy to be here at the moment," he added.

A flyhalf in the sevens side, Afrika hopes that he can make a massive impact at the Cheetahs.

"Cheetahs play a great brand of rugby, hopefully, I will get the opportunity in future to express my talent. I believe I can blend into the Cheetahs’ style of play," the 29-year-old Afrika said.

"[To play at the Cheetahs] it’s something different at the moment. I first have to find my feet as quick as possible, so that I can contribute in terms of what the teams stand for, and hopefully makes my teammates proud," he added.

The Free State Cheetahs open their campaign against the Sharks on July 21 in Bloemfontein.
