Bulls embracing change under Mitchell

The Bulls will play in the Sharks in one of the Currie Cup semifinals in Durban next weekend after Mitchell's side squeezed into the top four after a 52-32 win over the Pumas on Friday.

Mitchell, who took over the head coaching role from Nollis Marais, said it was tough to bring in different processes during the competition, especially after results like their 15-51 loss to the Pumas earlier in the season.

Bulls embracing change under Mitchell"We got blown away, but the important thing was just to stick to our processes and I have to commend the players and the staff," said Mitchell.

"They have been through a lot of change and to go through change is not easy and it destabilises until the trust is built and there is an understanding around the mentality and the approach and how they fit into it.

"So, people need to be commended for the way they have gone through change."

The Bulls scored eight tries on their way to victory against the Pumas in Pretoria, but Mitchell felt his side were still guilty of wasting a number of opportunities.

"We had to win the game didn't we so we had to score more, so it is not an easy night when you put yourself in this situation.

"We dealt with it pretty well. We dealt with their driving maul. It took a yellow [card] for them to eventually get something out of that.

"I think we probably left a lot of opportunities on the field. We probably left 30 points out there as well and the defence was really good in certain parts," he added.
