The Bulls face the defending Currie Cup champion Golden Lions in Pretoria on Friday.

Manuel told reporters that the match against the Lions is the perfect opportunity for his team to combine attack and defence in order to deliver a well-balanced 80-minute performance.

"We want to bring something fresh to the park," the Bulls' assistant said.

"We are in the process of making sure that we put things in place and make sure that our players understand the way we want to move forward with our attack and defence.

"We just want to make sure that we tick the boxes and we do ourselves proud in terms of how we want to play this week.

"If we can have a successful game then hopefully the fans will be satisfied with what we bring on Friday," Manuel added.

Manuel said that he expects the Lions to play their natural attacking brand of rugby and therefore the Bulls will have to be equal to the task on defence.

"The Lions are a good attacking team, so they are going to ask good questions on attack, so we must make sure defensively that we are in the right space and that we make the right reads during the game.

"Obviously playing against the Lions at Loftus is very challenging but we are very excited about the encounter on Friday ," explained Manuel.

The Bulls find themselves in fourth place on the Currie Cup table with 11 points from four games played, which includes two wins and two defeats.

The Lions have played one game less than the Bulls and find themselves sitting in the third position on the log after collecting 12 points from three games with two victories and one defeat.
