WP seek cohesion ahead of crunch week

Not one of their best performances, but the WP's second half surge proved to be good enough for a  victory.

The Pumas took a 12-10 lead into the break and extended the lead to 19-10 just two minutes after the second-half restart.

"We made so many mistakes in the general game," Dobson told reporters after the match.WP seek cohesion ahead of crunch week

"Our first five minutes of the second half was just as bad as our first half. I think our set piece accuracy helped us a lot.

"[The set-pieces] balanced out our performance and [after Bongo Mbonambi' try] we started seeing our class," he added.

After their 17-30 loss to the Free State Cheetahs in Round two, Dobson made several changes to the side and fielded a much stronger team against the Pumas.

Dobson explained that the constant changes do result in the lack of cohesion and is very reluctant to undergo that process again especially with the hectic week ahead.

The WP face Griquas in Kimberly on Wednesday, which is followed by a home game against the Blue Bulls  on August 12.

"We have to get five points from the next games and start building a consistent team. I think the guys are getting to know each other and are settling in well.

"With that being said, I am really reluctant to make mammoth changes because it does result in the lack of cohesion within the side," he added. "We will lean a bit more to similar players for the two weeks, rather than making to many changes, "

In terms of injuries, Dobson does not seem to concern especially the unusual schedule ahead.

"Johan du Toit has a hamstring niggle, but nothing major. We expect Dillon Leyds and Bongi Monambi to be announced later in the week,"
