Hames will make his first New Zealand start when the All Blacks take on South Africa in the Rugby Championship on Saturday.

Prop Hames, 29, comes into the side as one of seven changes for Joe Moody, who dislocated his shoulder during last weekend's 39-22 victory over Argentina in New Plymouth.

Coming from Bay of Plenty, the 29-year-old joined the Maori All Blacks for the first time in 2013 after a strong NPC season with the Steamers.

A strong tighthead prop with an ability to pounce on any loose ball that comes his way, Hames is also a registered rugby referee and has worked as a Rugby Development Officer with the Bay of Plenty RFU.
