Another Lions wing takes flight

Second-choice Aphiwe Dyantyi scored five tries for the Johannesburg outfit before he was also sidelined by an injury.

Madosh Tambwe then filled the gap spectacularly, scoring against the Crusaders and claiming four tries in a 52-31 rout of Stormers last weekend.

The 20-year-old Congolese became the 16th player to notch four tries in a Super Rugby match, with Australian Joe Roff the first to achieve the feat 22 years ago.

"With Courtnall likely to be fit by next month, I will have a selection headache every coach loves with three top-class left wingers to choose from," said coach Swys de Bruin.

Tambwe took just 54 seconds to open the scoring in the win against the Stormers.

He completed his hat-trick within 13 minutes and added a fourth try 12 minutes into the second half of the South African derby.

Tambwe is the second player to score four tries in a match this year after Ben Lam of the Hurricanes.

The Lions wing refused to take any credit for his achievement.

"It is entirely due to my teammates that I got those try-scoring opportunities," said the man-of-the-match award winner.

"I am privileged to be part of the Lions Super Rugby squad and grateful for every opportunity the coaching staff give me."
