AUDIO: 'Work-ons' for Lions revealed

Lions coach Swys de Bruin, speaking ahead of their Round Two encounter with the Jaguares at Ellis Park on Saturday,

"There are always work-ons," De Bruin told rugby365, saying that despite the win his team was "far from perfect".

"We didn't look after the ball very well.

"We have already started working on that.

"We also need to be more accurate."

The Lions coach also pointed to a pre-season plan to start the season slow and build steadily towards the play-offs.

"We said before the game we would be underdone, so now that we've won we can't say something different," he said, adding: "We were underdone."

He was pleased with his team's attack – which saw them amassing 342 running metres and 30 defenders beaten in a four-tries-to-three win against the Sharks last week.

"We pride ourselves on our attack. Our running metres were good and we had some good linebreaks.

"I think our defence was also good for a first game," he said of the 63 tackles, with an 84 percent success rate.

The one problem area may be the line-outs, where the Lions lost four on their own throw.

However, De Bruin was not too concerned.

"We had a good look and two of the line-outs we lost were through skew throws, so it's not a train smash," he told rugby365.

"The combinations [have not gelled yet], with [players like] Warren Whiteley and Franco Mostert only joined us at a late stage.

"I am not too concerned about it."
