Brumbies get a new chairman

Thomson was appointed Chair after Kennedy indicated he would remain on the Board but would be stepping down from the Chairmanship due to increased personal and business commitments.

At the board meeting, Matt Nobbs was appointed as Deputy Chair.

"I want to continue to build on the good year that we have had on and off the field," Thomson said of his appointment to the role.

"There have been plenty of positives on the rugby front and for the organisation to post a small profit is a very good turnaround from the previous three years.

"There have been strong performances this year across our community rugby. The growth in participation numbers throughout the region has been strong, the men’s and women’s high-performance pathways programs have performed admirably and the Brumbies have finished on top of the Australian Conference and made the finals for the fifth year in a row.

"We will remain focused on building strong connections between all areas of the rugby community. I look forward to working with the Board and Brumbies staff to ensure that we have continued success on and off the field, across all areas of the game.

The Brumbies would like to extend their thanks to Rob Kennedy as outgoing Chairman for his commitment to the club and community rugby during his tenure as Chairman since 2015.

"It has been an honour and a privilege to be Chairman of the Brumbies," Kennedy commented.

"I am happy that I have left the organisation in a good place and fully support Phil to continue with the great work we have started over the past couple of years,"

Thomson commented "Rob presided over some challenging times and he worked tirelessly and in the best interest of the Brumbies during his term as Chairman. Also, thanks to Carmel McGregor who is stepping down as a Director for all her efforts over the last four years,"
