Crusaders assistant coach Brad Mooar confirmed King, who played 107 games for the Highlanders and 16 for the Crusaders between 2003-14, was there to provide front row cover, while Crusaders legend Somerville was there to share ideas with Crusaders assistant forwards coach Jason Ryan.

Commenting on King's return to New Zealand from French club Pau, Mooar said: "It's great to see him back.

"We're just looking for some cover in the front row there… he got back Friday and is just straight in, he's in really good nick.

"He's certainly in this week and maybe a bit longer. He's staying with the in-laws and I'm sure he's looking for a bit of stuff to fill his days in," Mooar told Stuff.Crusaders call in some old friends

Meanwhile, the Crusaders will be without the services of All Black star Ryan Crotty this upcoming weekend due to a hamstring. But, will be available for the quarterfinals either against the Sharks or Highlander.

Despite Crotty's absence,  the Crusaders have the privilege of welcoming back the 11 other All Blacks. They have rejoined the team on Monday after the ruthless British and Irish Test Series, whether they will play against the Hurricanes this upcoming weekend will only be confirmed later in the week.
