The Durban-based outfit confirmed that Daniel underwent an operation on his right forearm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, head coach Robert du Preez was pleased with his charges first "hit-out" for the season which resulted in a 35-7 win over the Cheetahs at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.

"It was a good start to our journey and I was pleased with the squad's fitness," said Du Preez.  

"They obviously didn't have game time during our pre-season and we want to see how they go. 

"Our general execution was good despite the humid conditions and we pleased with the enthusiasm and energy shown by our relatively young squad.

The Sharks will play their second warm-up match against a Bulls XV at the Northwood Crusaders Club on Friday.
