Carter the clown

Waratahs captain Dave Dennis regards centre Tom Carter as the team's court jester.

Dennis, writing in his weekly column on the Tahs' website, Carter proved to be the best tourist in terms of energy and humour.

"Most of the time we found ourselves laughing at him, not with him," Dennis said.

Speaking of the team's record 72-10 win over the Southern Kings last Saturday the Tahs captain said it was a fantastic way to cap off a thoroughly enjoyable two weeks in South Africa.

"The time away proved to be beneficial not only in terms of for five competition points, but also from a team bonding point of view.

"There were some good times had off the field and many of the younger guys in the squad like Ben Volavola and Will Skelton got to experience South Africa for the first time.

"I'm sure they're looking forward to their next opportunity of travelling abroad with the team.

"In addition to regular meat sweats from eating out most nights, the group was also able to take part in some fantastic off-field experiences – such as the chance to see the local wildlife on safari, surf the famous break at Jeffreys Bay [J-Bay] outside Port Elizabeth and play a few rounds of golf on some of the continent's finest courses."
