VIDEO: Folau sidesteps Reds rumours

Israel Folau responds to rumours of move from Waratahs

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Wallabies and Waratahs fullback Israel Folau sidestepped any discussion concerning his future at the Sydney Super Rugby franchise.

Folau is off-contract at the end of this year and while the Waratahs will be keen to extend his stay in Sydney, the highly talented fullback has been constantly linked with a move to the Reds.

The former National Rugby League player represented Queensland five times in State of Origin and played for the Brisbane Broncos before making a code-switch to the Australian Football League. A move to the Reds would bring Folau back to Brisbane.

When asked about the speculations, the fullback labelled it as ‘white noise’ and said that he is currently focused the Waratahs’ quarter-final clash against the Highlanders this Saturday.

“I know there’s rumours going around, but not from my end in the sense of my management taking control of that,” he said.

“It’s a bit of white noise in the background but nothing to worry about from my end,”

The 29-year-old also revealed that he had “so many options,” and will make his final decision when the season concludes.

“There’s no timeline, obviously, so I’m just going to take my time and see what’s best for me in the end,” he said.

“There are so many options, from my point of view, that I’ll have a look at once the season comes to an end but at this stage just thinking about the game on the weekend,”
