Wallaby wing tempted by France move

The 29-year-old Brumbies wing, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has long been a target of the French clubs and it seems that heading abroad does sound like a good option.

Speight admitted that he has met up with Europe clubs during the Wallabies November Test series last year.

According to the Australian media reports, Bordeaux Begles seem to be the frontrunner in the project to lure the wing to the Top 14.

"There is always desire to play [abroad] and experience something different," Speight said.

"If you're in France or the UK, everywhere in Europe is within travelling distance and there is a lot of pluses to that.

"But there are also a lot of things to weigh up before making that decision.

"Canberra is home for me and the priority for me is to stay,"

A move to Europe would not only mean the end of an eight-year career at Brumbies but it will also mean the end of the flyer's 2019 World Cup hopes.

However, with Wallaby head coach Michael Cheika's different options at wing, the Fijian-born acknowledged that the 2019 World Cup could not be the primary reason for remaining in Australia.

"[A World Cup] is still the ultimate goal as for everyone plying their trade in Australia.

"And for me, personally to go to a second World Cup would be amazing. [But] that's a secondary reason.

"The primary reason is that I love being part of the Brumbies. I love the Brumbies, I love Canberra and I love living in Canberra.

"Leaving would be a very tough decision and that's something that is weighing heavily on my mind.

"Hopefully we can sort something out in the coming days or week,"
